Painting with Green Hues
I won’t argue that white rooms are timeless and beautiful. They feel light and bright, and it seems that they appeal to at least 60% of the population. However, they don’t always hold up to active families terribly well. Personally, I have 3 boys and a rottweiler that I wouldn’t trade for all the white walls in the world. I also wouldn’t trust them in a white room for more than 5 minutes! Thankfully, there’s no shortage of possibilities out there when it comes to beautiful colors.
Here are some of my favorite soft greens.
The Kitchen and Family Room pictured in the next three photos were painted with this color. I love that it’s a light green that isn’t minty or too yellow. It’s softened just perfectly with a grey undertone, giving it a peaceful and timeless feel.
I absolutely love this deep green. It works perfectly for moody spaces or rooms that need a rich contrast. The following two photos demonstrate how well it sets off a space without being loud or dominant.
I know this looks very similar to SW Sensible Hue but it’s actually a bit darker and brings in a touch of blue. Just like with varying shades of white, subtle differences can make or break a room. The lighting will also most certainly affect how it looks so it’s important to see a sample of it throughout the day, and in the evening as well with only the artificial light. This color was used in the bedroom and bathroom pictured in the next two photos. It’s as neutral as gray but without the sterility.
